Heathrow airport chauffeur services handle more executive transfers than any other UK airport -over 80 million passengers pass through Heathrow each year, and navigating five terminals, short-stay car parks, and restricted pickup zones is something most visitors (and even Londoners) find stressful. A professional chauffeur eliminates all of that.
This terminal-by-terminal guide covers exactly where your Klass Chauffeur driver will meet you, what to expect at each terminal, and how our airport transfer service works from the moment your plane touches down.
How Heathrow Chauffeur Pickup Works
When you book a Heathrow chauffeur transfer with Klass, the process is the same regardless of terminal:
- Flight monitoring -we track your flight in real time. If your plane is early or delayed, your chauffeur adjusts automatically at no extra charge.
- Meet & greet -your driver waits in the arrivals hall holding a name board. No searching for cars in a car park.
- Luggage assistance -your chauffeur handles all bags from the trolley to the boot.
- Vehicle ready -your Mercedes S-Class, V-Class, or Range Rover is waiting in the short-stay car park, climate controlled, with complimentary water and WiFi.
You receive 60 minutes of free waiting time on international arrivals and 30 minutes on domestic flights. This starts from the moment the plane lands, not from when you clear customs -so there is never any rush.
Terminal 2: The Queen's Terminal
Terminal 2 handles Star Alliance airlines (Lufthansa, United, Singapore Airlines, Air Canada) and some oneworld carriers. It is Heathrow's newest terminal, opened in 2014.
- Arrivals hall -your chauffeur meets you just past the customs exit on the ground floor. The hall is well-signed and relatively compact.
- Pickup location -short-stay Car Park 2, directly connected to the terminal via a covered walkway. Walk time: 3-4 minutes.
- Tip -Terminal 2 often has shorter immigration queues than T5. Budget 25-40 minutes from landing to meeting your chauffeur.
Terminal 3
Terminal 3 serves Emirates, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines, Virgin Atlantic (some routes), and other long-haul carriers.
- Arrivals hall -exit is on the ground floor. Your chauffeur will be positioned near the main exit barrier with a name board.
- Pickup location -short-stay Car Park 3 is a covered walk from the terminal. Walk time: 4-5 minutes.
- Tip -T3 handles many long-haul arrivals that land between 05:00 and 07:00. If you are on an overnight flight, your chauffeur will be there regardless of the early hour.
Terminal 4
Terminal 4 is used by KLM, Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways (some routes), and several Middle Eastern carriers.
- Arrivals hall -smaller and quieter than T2 or T5. Your chauffeur meets you at the arrivals exit.
- Pickup location -short-stay Car Park 4, directly adjacent. Walk time: 2-3 minutes.
- Note -T4 is geographically separate from T2/T3/T5. If you are connecting between terminals, the Heathrow Express shuttle links T4 to the central area. Your chauffeur will be at whichever terminal you specify.
Terminal 5: British Airways Hub
Terminal 5 is Heathrow's busiest terminal, handling virtually all British Airways and Iberia flights. It has three buildings: the main terminal (5A) and two satellite buildings (5B, 5C) connected by an automated transit system.
- Arrivals hall -all arrivals exit on the ground floor of 5A, regardless of which satellite building your plane arrived at. Your chauffeur will be directly outside the customs exit.
- Pickup location -short-stay Car Park 5 is attached to the terminal. Walk time: 5-6 minutes (it is a large building).
- Tip -T5 has the longest walks from gate to arrivals. Budget 30-45 minutes from landing for international flights, including immigration and baggage claim.
Departures: Drop-Off at Heathrow
For departures, your chauffeur drops you directly at the terminal forecourt -the closest possible point to the check-in hall. There is no need to navigate car parks or shuttle buses.
We recommend arriving 3 hours before long-haul flights and 2 hours before European flights. Your chauffeur will have you at the terminal door with time to spare.
Heathrow to Central London: Journey Times
| Destination | Distance | Typical Time |
|---|---|---|
| Mayfair / West End | 16 miles | 45-65 min |
| City of London / Canary Wharf | 20 miles | 50-75 min |
| Kensington / Chelsea | 13 miles | 35-55 min |
| Central London (general) | 15 miles | 40-60 min |
| Surrey / Windsor | 8-15 miles | 20-35 min |
Times vary significantly by time of day. Early morning (before 07:00) and late evening (after 20:00) are fastest. Your chauffeur knows the optimal routes and will adapt in real time to traffic conditions.
Why Choose a Chauffeur Over Heathrow Express or Taxi?
The Heathrow Express gets you to Paddington in 15 minutes -but then you still need an onward taxi. A chauffeur takes you door-to-door. When you add the cost of a taxi from Paddington, the price difference is minimal -and you skip the queues, escalators, and luggage hauling entirely.
Compared to a black cab or Uber from Heathrow, a chauffeur service offers fixed pricing (no surge), a premium vehicle, flight monitoring, and 60 minutes of free waiting time. It is a far better experience.
